Based on a requirement from our customer, we carried out grinding of work surfaces of supporting rings and adjustment of a sugar drum dryer due to a bad condition of surfaces of supporting rings on a rotary drum dryer of Ø 2.4/2.6 x 12.5 m. We use this method of repairing (the use of mobile grinding machines) especially where supporting rings cannot be demounted from the rotary equipment position easily. For grinding we used two mobile grinding machines and we performed the grinding on both the supporting rings of the drum rotary dryer at the same time. Before the works, we had to assemble an auxiliary structure for positioning of the grinding machines.

Through this method of repair we can guarantee that the work surfaces of the supporting rings, which have been worn-out due to long-time operation (scratches, undesirable spots, vibrations…etc.), will be aligned, smoothed, the work surfaces will be apparently improved min. by 60 - 70 % in an interfacial contact and vibrations will be damped.
